EU ambassador to Cambodia Igor Driesmans stressed his commitment to promoting EU-Cambodia cooperation in all sectors, especially trade, investment and people-to-people connections, during his first meeting with Prime Minister Hun Manet on January 9.

Driesman said he would highlight the reform efforts of the Cambodian government and investment competitiveness in the Kingdom to potential EU investors, in order to encourage their trade and investment decision-making, said a social media post from Manet cabinet.

“Substantial and productive meeting with Cambodian PM Hun Manet to discuss bilateral relations, as well as global issues. The EU is committed to partner with Cambodia on trade and economic reform, the green transition and renewable energy, and the promotion of human rights,” said Driesmans via X, formerly Twitter.

Manet welcomed Driesmans for his tenure as ambassador to Cambodia and appreciated the EU’s support for the Kingdom.

He also expressed his hopes for further cooperation with the EU on trade and investment.
